I made a wooden spindle all by myself! The first bit of yarn I spindled is all lumpy and overtwisted, but I can call it "designer yarn". I also started to make a lazy Kate by decorating the bottom part with napkins (decoupage technique). Besides these I made three sets of earrings and started to dabble with a wooden picture frame.

Spinning out of control

Too much telly...
R&D
Oh, the knife in the pictures is there just to annoy americans... I believe that they have a weird phobia of sharp objects. My parents got me my first knife when I was about ten years old so I wouldn't have to borrow my sisters' knives. How ever is a child going to learn how to carve wood and not her fingers if not by practise..?
Askartelipaskartelin puisia sukkapuikkoja. Yläkuvassa on amerikkalaisten kiusaksi puukko (niillä on outo terävien esineiden fobia) ja teroitettu puikko. Teroittamiseen käytin puukon lisäksi tavallista kynänteroitinta. Alakuvan puikot on jo kertaalleen hiottu.

How many rpm's do you knit? Unfortunately this gadget doesn't count the rounds per minute. It would be so cool to have an actual rev counter for knitting... Actually that would be quite easy to make, not making it count shakes and other non-knitting-movement as rounds would be much harder. I guess only a few hints to fellow knitter and all-round-handicrafts-enthusiastic Anppa could make him prepare something like this. :D

Testing
I wondered if combining two different yarns would cheer this coffee cardigan up. It probably would, but the other yarn requires much thicker needles, so I'm still going just with the green yarn and the same old pattern. If the green yarn (mexico) runs out before the cardigan is finished I'll use the reddish yarn for the collar. Or then I'll make something completely different from the reddish minced-meat yarn (my vegetarian roommate says it looks just like minced meat).
Kieroutunut tuotos
Väri on kaunis, muttei taitaisi oikein sopia muuhun pukeutumiseeni (musta on väri!).
This might become a dishcloth or something similar. I haven't really done cables before, but it's surprisingly easy. This will act as a practising piece, then I might do something with the cotton blends in my closet. The lime coloured coaster is an Easter decoration from Knauber. I like it, because it doesn't look like an Easter decoration (being an atheist I'm not that into christian holidays).

Saalista
A little something I managed to hunt from my trip to Germany. Sock yarns, cotton and polyamide. And a pair of needles. Notice the german flag colors in the Regia yarn!
Saalis matkalta. Sukkalankoja, puuvillaa ja polyamidia, sekä puikot. Huomaa teemaan sopiva Regian väritys! Tulee hienot varoitusväriset sukat tuosta langasta... sopisivat etenkin pahasta jalkahiestä kärsiville.
